| Painting
watercolors where the land meets the sea can be no better anywhere than
on Bailey Island (bridge access) ~Maine. As you can see the Driftwood Inn,
which will be our daily base location is right on the water at the entrance
to Little Harbor. Come by yourself to join other watercolorists or with non-painting friends or family who may just wish to relax in this area of Maine or see many sights within 25 miles of Bailey Island (look up area on the net for more information on fishing and kayaking.) Our subjects will be close by on the island or just across the one of a kind Cribstone bridge. Subject matter abounds. You can join us for a minimum of 2 days or the full five days … stay at the Driftwood Inn…nearby accommodations or commute. Click here for a list of accommodations. |

Bailey
Island is located in Casco Bay, 12 miles south of Brunswick from Cook’s
Corner. The cost of the tutorial is $75 per day with a 2 day minimum.
There is a one day non-refundable deposit. By very specific about which
days and dates that you wish to attend. |

typical day (weather permitting) will be as follows. |

You
may want to pick up a sandwich for lunch at Driftwood Inn-must order the
evening before. Luncheon items are also available at Bailey Island Store,
Giant Stairs Takeout near the Inn. 9:00 a.m. Demonstration at the location designated for that day. (Call Driftwood Inn to find out where~ 833-5461) Paint on location: I shall be available to help you until 3:00. There is a possibility of a 2-hour noon cruise on Casco Bay, one day (weather permitting). It costs $10. Great for sketching and just seeing the area. |

4:00 p.m. First critique of your work of day at Driftwood-finish your painting 6:00 p.m. One sitting: Dinner at Driftwood if you reserved or we can dine out about 25 minutes away. Allen’s, Middlebay, Block and tackle. 8:00 p.m. 2nd critique of a MATTED painting. Optional video of watercolor by an English tutor. |
To
participate in the workshop one should have basic watercolor skills,
especially washes. Perhaps 4 or 5 lessons in adult education or a private
tutor. Practice your sketching and drawing as much as possible, beforehand.
You do not have to be an expert…I am not! Subjects that I hope
to include, weather permitting, will be surf on rocks, fog, fishing
boats, local buildings, perhaps flowers if you wish and there is a DISTANT
lighthouse. Many, many subjects. |
